Graphics
There is nothing worse than waiting for 250K of graphics to download.
Maximum file size of a page is about 15K. The average is about 10K. There are many HTML
editors that show how long it takes to download a page. Try to have all your pages
download less than 30 seconds. Many of your visitors won't wait for all your
graphics to download. You don’t need flashy graphics, Java etc unless you want to
make a point or create an atmosphere.

Provide useful, timely and interesting information.

Design your website layout on paper first. Make sure your site has a
nice flow and easy navigation. Notice this site has internal links to all main pages and a
home button at the left menu for your convenience.
